NCB Makes India’s First Seizure of Captagon Drug Under Operation RAGEPILL
The NCB made India’s first seizure of the drug Captagon under Operation RAGEPILL, recovering 227.7 kg worth about ₹182 crore from New Delhi and Mundra, Gujarat.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) carried out India’s first-ever seizure of the psychotropic drug Captagon under an operation named ‘Operation RAGEPILL’. The seizure was announced on 16 May 2026.
Officials recovered 227.7 kg of Captagon tablets and powder, valued at about ₹182 crore in the illegal market. The drugs were seized from locations in New Delhi and Mundra in Gujarat, where they were hidden inside machinery and imported cargo brought from Syria.
Captagon, often called the ‘Jihadi Drug’, contains substances such as Fenetylline and Amphetamine. The operation revealed an international trafficking network that was trying to use India as a transit point for smuggling narcotics to Gulf countries, especially Saudi Arabia.
For aspirants, the important points are the name of the operation, the agency (NCB), the drug (Captagon) and the seizure locations — useful for internal security and current affairs questions.
