The three-day North Tech Symposium was held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from 4 to 6 May 2026. The Defence Minister inaugurated the event, which was jointly organised by the Northern Command and Central Command of the Indian Army together with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM).
The symposium was conducted under the theme "Raksha Triveni Sangam — Where Technology, Industry and Soldiering Converge". A total of 284 companies took part, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), defence startups, and private technology firms.
The main aim of the event was to find and bring in home-grown (indigenous) defence technologies, improve equipment maintenance systems, and make the purchase (procurement) process for the armed forces faster and simpler. Such platforms support the government's push for self-reliance in defence under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
For aspirants, the key takeaway is the link between private industry and the armed forces in building indigenous defence capability.
