Rajasthan's First Semiconductor Packaging Facility Inaugurated in Bhiwadi

Rajasthan's first semiconductor packaging facility and Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) were inaugurated in Bhiwadi on 15 May 2026. The unit was developed by Sahasra Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd. and is described as India's first SME-led semiconductor unit to begin commercial chip production.

Semiconductor chips are tiny devices used in almost all electronics, from mobile phones to cars. "Packaging" is the final stage where a chip is sealed and prepared for use in products. The facility was supported under the SPECS scheme (Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors).

The plant plans to raise its yearly packaging capacity from 60 million units to 600 million units within three years. The wider Electronics Manufacturing Cluster has attracted investment from several companies and is expected to create thousands of jobs, strengthening India's electronics and semiconductor manufacturing base.
