Vacancy Details

A total of 84 Food Safety Officer (Group-B) posts are on offer. The vacancies are distributed across Unreserved, SEBC, SC and ST categories, with women's horizontal reservation. Posts are also reserved for Persons with Disabilities, ex-servicemen and sportspersons. Transgender candidates are also eligible to apply.

Eligibility

  • Qualification: A relevant science qualification such as B.Sc, B.Tech/B.E, M.Sc or M.Phil/Ph.D, as prescribed for the Food Safety Officer post in the official notification.
  • Age (as on 01-01-2025): Minimum 21 years, maximum 42 years. The upper limit is relaxed by 5 years for SEBC, SC, ST and all women candidates, and by 10 years for PwD candidates.
  • Candidates must be Indian citizens and able to read, write and speak Odia fluently, with supporting proof.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official OSSC website (ossc.gov.in).
  2. New users click on NEW USER and complete the online registration; existing users log in.
  3. Fill the application form and select the Food Safety Officer post option.
  4. Upload the qualifying degree certificate, mark sheets and other required documents.
  5. Enter valid bank account details for the refundable examination fee.
  6. Pay the fee online via the Odisha Treasury portal and submit before 11-07-2026.
  7. Only one application is allowed per candidate.

Selection Process

Selection has three stages: Stage I is a Preliminary Examination (150 marks, computer-based or OMR). Stage II is a Main Written Examination (200-mark Technical Paper) plus a qualifying Computer Skill Test. Stage III is Certificate Verification. Shortlisting is done in stages based on marks at each level.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The Preliminary Examination follows a general indicative syllabus. The Main Written Examination has a Technical Paper specific to the Food Safety Officer post. All papers are objective multiple-choice and bilingual (Odia and English), except the language paper of the Main Examination.
