SSC MTS & Havaldar 2025 — Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

This guide explains the exam pattern and syllabus for the SSC Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar recruitment. The selection is made through a Computer-Based Test (CBT), and candidates applying for the Havaldar post must also clear a Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) from a recognised board.

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Test — Session I and Session II
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) — only for the Havaldar post

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

Exam Pattern (Computer-Based Test):

The CBT is conducted in two sessions, both attempted on the same day.

Session Sections Negative Marking
Session I Numerical and Mathematical Ability; Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving No negative marking
Session II General Awareness; English Language and Comprehension 1 mark deducted per wrong answer

Syllabus (broad topics): - Numerical and Mathematical Ability: number system, simplification, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, time and work, mensuration, basic algebra and geometry. - Reasoning Ability: analogies, series, coding-decoding, classification, blood relations, directions, logical reasoning. - General Awareness: current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, economy, general science. - English Language: vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms and antonyms, comprehension.

For the Havaldar post, the PET/PST includes walking and cycling standards (different for male and female candidates) and prescribed height and chest measurements.
