Andhra Pradesh extended its Ragi Java nutrition programme until April 2029. The scheme gives over 30 lakh students in around 44,000 government schools a free daily drink made of ragi flour and jaggery, supplied by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.
The Andhra Pradesh government has extended its Ragi Java nutrition programme for government school students until April 2029. The extension was made through an agreement signed with the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.
Under the programme, students receive a daily nutritious drink made from ragi (finger millet) flour and jaggery. Both ingredients are supplied free of cost by the trust. The drink is intended to improve children's health, energy levels, attentiveness in class, and school attendance.
The programme currently benefits more than 30 lakh students in nearly 44,000 government schools across the state. The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, founded in 1972, has long supported welfare and education work in Andhra Pradesh.
For exams, note this as a state-level child nutrition scheme based on ragi and jaggery, extended up to 2029.
