India and Sudan Hold Ninth Round of Foreign Office Consultations

India and Sudan held the ninth round of their Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Port Sudan on 4 May 2026 to review and strengthen bilateral relations.

The talks covered a wide range of areas, including trade, energy, mining, agriculture, digital infrastructure, and capacity building. Both sides discussed ways to expand cooperation across these sectors.

The two countries also stressed working together on counter-terrorism and human resource development. India offers training and scholarship programmes such as ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) and ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) scholarships, which help build skills in partner nations.

Sudan condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, showing its support for security cooperation with India. The meeting strengthened diplomatic ties, and it was decided that the next round of consultations would be held in New Delhi.
