India and Trinidad and Tobago Sign 8 MoUs During Jaishankar’s Visit

India and Trinidad and Tobago signed eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the official visit of External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar in May 2026. A Memorandum of Understanding is a written agreement between two sides that sets out areas where they plan to work together.

The eight MoUs covered sectors such as infrastructure, security, healthcare, tourism, and capacity building. These agreements are aimed at strengthening cooperation, trade and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

This is the historic site where the first Indian indentured labourers, known as Girmitiyas, arrived in Trinidad and Tobago during British colonial rule.
