On 24 April 2026, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) signed a strategic agreement with the NACE International India Section to set up India's first dedicated Marine Blasting & Painting Skill Centre in Mumbai. The centre will train a skilled workforce for the shipbuilding, ship repair, and offshore industries.
The partnership offers globally recognised certification programmes and follows the Skill India–NSDC framework, ensuring standardised training. A specialised training manual was also introduced to build expertise in marine surface preparation.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited is a Miniratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence. The new centre supports India's push to strengthen its maritime industry and develop home-grown industrial skills.
