Odisha Tops India in PMAY-U 2.0 Urban Housing Completions
Odisha emerged as the best-performing state in urban housing completions under PMAY-U 2.0, holding the number one rank from March 2025 to March 2026.
Odisha has emerged as the top-performing state in India for completing urban houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U 2.0). The state held the number one position for urban housing completion from March 2025 to March 2026.
Under the second phase of the scheme, more than 24,000 houses were sanctioned in Odisha. A large share of these houses have been geo-tagged, and several thousand units are still under construction. The work is being carried out by the state's Housing and Urban Development Department together with Urban Local Bodies.
PMAY-Urban is a central government scheme that aims to provide pucca (durable) and affordable houses to eligible urban families across the country. The 2.0 phase continues this goal with fresh targets for cities and towns.
For exam aspirants, this is a useful example of how a central scheme is implemented at the state level and how performance is tracked through tools like geo-tagging.
