PM Modi's Europe Tour: Bilateral Visits to France and Slovakia, G7 Summit Participation, and Expected India-US Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to undertake an official visit to France and the Slovak Republic from June 13 to June 19, 2026. The tour, announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), covers bilateral meetings, a multilateral summit, and high-profile innovation events.

In the first leg of the visit, the Prime Minister will arrive in Nice, France on June 13 and hold bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron on June 14. The two leaders are set to review India-France relations, which were elevated to the level of a Special Global Strategic Partnership earlier in 2026. They will also jointly inaugurate 'Bharat Innovates', an event bringing together startups and venture capital firms from India, France, and other nations as part of the India-France Year of Innovation.

Between June 14 and 16, Prime Minister Modi will undertake a State Visit to the Slovak Republic — marking the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country's independence in 1993. He will hold talks with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and meet President Peter Pellegrini. The MEA has stated the visit will reinforce bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, automobile manufacturing, and railway sector development. The visit builds on earlier exchanges, including Slovak President Pellegrini's attendance at the AI Impact Summit in India in February 2026.

From June 16 to 17, the Prime Minister will participate in the G7 Summit in Evian, France, hosted by President Macron. India is participating as an invited partner country, not a G7 member. The summit agenda includes sessions on international solidarity, sustainable economic growth, and the safe and rapid deployment of Artificial Intelligence. On the sidelines of the summit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders, including a possible meeting with United States President Donald Trump — which would be their first interaction since February 2025. Topics likely on the table include the India-US bilateral trade agreement under negotiation and other matters of mutual concern.

The final segment of the tour, scheduled for June 18 in Paris, includes further bilateral engagements and participation in VivaTech, described as Europe's largest technology and startup event. The Prime Minister is also expected to address members of the Indian diaspora in Paris. The MEA has noted that the visit reinforces India's commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with the European Union and its role as a leading voice of the Global South.
