Tripura Introduces Rotational Work-From-Home for Group C and D Staff to Save Fuel
Tripura announced a rotational work-from-home policy on 14 May 2026 for Group C and D staff, with 50% attending office daily and the rest working remotely on weekly rotation, to save fuel and cut costs.
Tripura has introduced a rotational work-from-home policy for Group C and Group D government employees. The step, announced on 14 May 2026, is aimed at reducing fuel consumption and cutting state expenditure.
Under the new arrangement, only 50 per cent of these employees attend offices physically on any given day, while the rest work from home on a weekly rotational basis. This means staff take turns between office and home each week.
Employees working from home are required to stay electronically connected and must report to office immediately during emergencies. Essential and emergency services have been kept out of this policy so that public services continue without interruption.
For exam aspirants, this is an example of a state government using administrative measures for cost saving and energy conservation. As a static fact, Tripura's capital is Agartala, and it became a full-fledged state on 21 January 1972 under the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971.
