The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), an autonomous organisation under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has invited online applications from Indian citizens for two Scientist-D (Medical) posts. The posts are on a regular basis at Level 12 of the Pay Matrix with all-India transfer liability. ICMR runs its work through headquarters in New Delhi, 27 institutes and centres, and a wide network of field stations.

Vacancy Details
Total: 2 posts (Scientist-D, Medical)
Pay: Level 12 of Pay Matrix (Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200) plus allowances admissible to ICMR employees.
Eligibility
Essential qualification: MBBS or equivalent degree recognised by MCI / NMC with eight years of experience.
Desirable: MD or MS or equivalent degree recognised by MCI / NMC, or MPH from a recognised university, or PhD from a recognised university in a subject related to biomedical sciences. Experience in research and development related to biomedical sciences, especially clinical trials in government, public sector or private institutions.
Counting of qualification as experience:
- PhD: counted as 4 years of experience.
- MD or MS or equivalent: counted as 3 years of experience.
- MVSc: counted as 2 years of experience.
- MPH, MTech, ME: not counted as experience.
Age limit: Upper age limit is 45 years. Relaxation as per Government of India rules.

- Government, PSU and aided-agency employees must produce a No Objection Certificate from the employer at the time of personal discussion.
Selection Process
Selection is made through:
- Shortlisting of candidates who meet age, qualification and experience criteria. ICMR may further shortlist on the basis of higher experience or qualification if applications are large.
- Computer-based test (MCQ) on understanding of research methods. The test is of qualifying nature.
- Interview by the selection committee.
ICMR may decide to use the CBT, the interview or both, depending on the number of eligible candidates.
