The Indian Air Force (IAF) has invited online applications from male Indian and Gorkha (subject of Nepal) candidates for the Airmen Group Y (Non-Technical) Medical Assistant trade under Airmen Intake 02/2027. There are two eligibility streams — one for candidates who have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, and another for those holding a Diploma, B.Pharma, or B.Sc in Pharmacy. Online registration is open from 06-07-2026 to 26-07-2026. The online test will be held on 22-23 September 2026. Selected candidates will serve an initial period of 20 years, which can be extended up to the age of 57 years.

Eligibility
Nationality: Male Indian citizens or Gorkha (subject of Nepal) only.
Stream 1 — 10+2 Qualified Candidates: - Marital Status: Must be unmarried - Date of Birth: Between 01-07-2006 and 01-07-2010 (both inclusive) - Upper age at enrolment: 21 years - Education: Passed 10+2 / Intermediate or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English from a recognised Board, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. A two-year vocational course with the same non-vocational subjects and percentage criteria is also accepted.
Stream 2 — Diploma / B.Pharma / B.Sc Pharmacy Candidates: - Unmarried candidates: Date of Birth between 01-07-2003 and 01-07-2008 (both inclusive) - Married candidates: Date of Birth between 01-07-2003 and 01-07-2006 (both inclusive) - Upper age at enrolment: 24 years - Education: Passed 10+2 / Intermediate or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in English, PLUS a Diploma / B.Pharma / B.Sc in Pharmacy with minimum 50% aggregate marks and valid registration with the State Pharmacy Council or Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) at the time of enrolment.
Note: The exact percentage before the decimal point (as printed on the marksheet) is used — for example, 49.99% is treated as 49%, not rounded up to 50%.
Medical & Physical Standards: Candidates must meet IAF medical and physical fitness standards. LASIK/PRK surgery history, narcotic/alcohol use, and permanent body tattoos (except at specific permitted locations) are disqualifying factors.

How to Apply
- Visit the official Indian Air Force website at indianairforce.nic.in and open the airmen recruitment (CASB) section to reach the online application portal.
- Complete Step-I registration by entering personal and contact details, then verify OTPs sent to your email and mobile number.
- Receive your User ID and Password via email/SMS, then click "Go To Application".
- Complete Step-II by filling in Personal Details, Communication Details, Qualification Details, and Declaration, and upload all required documents.
- Upload scanned photograph (100–200 KB), signature (80–150 KB), left thumb impression (50–100 KB), and parent's signature (if below 18 years), all in .jpg/.jpeg format.
- Complete live facial verification by capturing a photo through the portal.
- Review the filled application carefully and correct any errors before final submission.
- Pay the examination fee of ₹550/- plus 18% GST through the payment gateway.
- Print and save the submitted application form in PDF for future use.
Important: Each candidate must apply only once. Multiple applications will lead to rejection. No change of exam centre or date will be allowed after submission.
Selection Process
Phase I — Online Test: - Duration: 45 minutes - Subjects: English (10+2 CBSE level) and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA) - Marking: +1 for correct answer, 0 for unattempted, -0.25 for wrong answer - Candidates must qualify each paper separately; marks may be normalised across sessions
Phase II (at designated Airmen Selection Centre): - Physical Fitness Test I: 1.6 km run within specified time - Physical Fitness Test II (after 10-minute rest): 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, 20 squats (each within 1 minute) - Adaptability Test I: Objective written test - Adaptability Test II: As per current IAF policy - Document Verification: Educational and other certificates
Phase III — Medical Examination: - Conducted by Air Force Medical Team - Includes blood haemogram, urine routine, biochemistry tests, chest X-ray, ECG - Candidates declared medically unfit may apply for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB) by depositing ₹40/- within three working days
