Selection Process
Selection is based purely on merit; NCL does not conduct any written examination.
Stage 1 — Merit list: For Graduate and Diploma posts, merit is drawn from the marks scored in the qualifying Graduation/Diploma examination. For Trade (ITI) posts, merit is based on the average of the matriculation pass percentage and the relevant trade certificate percentage. Candidates are ranked in descending order of marks; ties are broken by date of birth (older candidate first) and then by name in alphabetical order. Percentages are not rounded off.
Stage 2 — Document scrutiny: Shortlisted candidates are called with all original certificates for verification. Failure to appear or to produce valid documents leads to cancellation of candidature.
Stage 3 — Medical examination: The final offer depends on clearing a medical test under the Mines Rules, 1955, with a fitness certificate in the prescribed format issued after the notification date.
