India hosted the BRICS Senior Officials' Meeting and the Justice Ministers' Meeting on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, from 19 to 22 May 2026. The meetings were organised by the Ministry of Law and Justice under India's BRICS Chairship.

Discussions focused on strengthening institutional mediation, reforming arbitration, and building digital dispute-resolution systems. The aim is to reduce the backlog of court cases and improve legal cooperation across borders among BRICS countries.

Participating ministers worked toward a joint declaration to promote capacity building in mediation and arbitration. The event underlined India's growing role in international legal cooperation.
