Jharkhand Records Zero Primary School Dropout Rate in 2024-25
Jharkhand recorded a zero per cent primary school dropout rate in 2024-25, with improved transition rates and higher girls’ enrolment, though learning outcomes and teacher vacancies remain concerns.
Jharkhand has reported a zero per cent dropout rate at the primary school level for the year 2024-25, a notable achievement in school education. The state also reduced dropout rates at the upper primary and secondary levels, showing that more children are staying in school for longer.
Along with lower dropouts, the transition rates also improved. More students moved up from the primary stage to the upper primary stage, and from there to the secondary stage. The enrolment of girls in higher secondary classes rose as well, pointing to better access to education for girls in the state.
However, the data also showed areas that still need attention. Students' performance in mathematics and language scores has been declining, the pupil-teacher ratio remains high, and thousands of teaching posts are still vacant. These gaps mean that staying in school has improved, but the quality of learning needs more work.
For exam aspirants, the key takeaway is that dropout rate, enrolment rate, transition rate and pupil-teacher ratio are standard education indicators, and Jharkhand is the state linked with the zero per cent primary dropout milestone in 2024-25.
