Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai has been awarded the Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) Platinum – Class I Rating on 12 May 2026. The rating was given by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The airport earned the rating by successfully diverting more than 99 per cent of its waste away from landfills. This means almost all of its waste is recycled, reused or treated instead of being dumped, which reduces pollution and pressure on landfill sites.
