The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission has invited online applications for 65 posts of Gulm Samadeshak (Company Commander) in the Bihar Home Guard Service Cadre under Advertisement No. 08/2026. Graduates of any stream — male, female and third-gender candidates — can apply. The online window is open from 30 June 2026 to 30 July 2026. Selection is through a Preliminary written exam, a Main written exam and a Physical Efficiency Test.

Post: Gulm Samadeshak (Company Commander), Pay Level-6 Total Vacancies: 65

  • 35% of posts are horizontally reserved for women (female domiciles of Bihar only).
  • 2% are reserved for grandchildren/great-grandchildren of Bihar State freedom fighters who draw a Central Government pension (carved out within the category-wise distribution).
  • Candidates from states other than Bihar are treated as Unreserved (General).

Eligibility

Nationality: Indian. Male, female and third-gender (Transgender) candidates may apply.

Educational Qualification: Bachelor's Degree (graduation) from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the State Government, on or before 01 August 2025.

Age: Calculated as on 01 August 2025 from the date of birth in the Matriculation certificate. SC/ST and Third-Gender candidates get the maximum age relaxation (up to 42 years). Exact category-wise age limits are given in the official notification PDF.

Physical Standards (qualifying at PET): Male candidates need a minimum chest expansion of 5 cm. Female candidates must weigh at least 48 kg (chest measurement does not apply). No marks are awarded for physical measurements, but candidates below the prescribed minimums are declared ineligible at the PET stage.

Payment is online only (Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card or UPI). The fee is non-refundable once paid.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official website at bpssc.bihar.gov.in and click the "Home Guard" tab.
  2. Open the link for Advt. No. 08/2026.
  3. Part 1 – Registration: Enter your name, nationality, mobile number, email, Bihar domicile status, category, gender and date of birth, then pay the Rs. 100 fee to receive your Registration ID and Password by SMS and email.
  4. Part 2 – Application Form: Log in and fill in parent details, address and educational qualification.
  5. Upload your photograph and signatures (English and Hindi) in the prescribed size and format.
  6. Review all entries, then click "Confirm and Submit". No changes are possible after submission.
  7. Print the acknowledgement receipt and keep it safe. Do not send any hard copy to the Commission.

Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Exam — 1 paper, 100 objective questions, 200 marks, 2 hours (General Knowledge & Current Affairs). Candidates scoring below 30% are not eligible for the Main Exam. About 20 times the vacancies (category-wise) are shortlisted.
  2. Main Exam — Two objective papers. General Hindi (Paper I) is only qualifying; merit is decided by Paper II. Negative marking of 0.2 marks per wrong answer. About 6 times the vacancies are called for the PET.
  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Qualifying only (Run, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put). Each event must be passed individually.
  4. Medical Examination & Character/Antecedent Verification before final appointment.

Minimum qualifying marks for the final merit list: General 40%, BC 36.5%, EBC 34%, SC/ST/Women 32%. The whole process is expected to take about 6 months after applications close.

Preliminary Exam Pattern: 100 objective questions, 200 marks, 2 hours, covering General Knowledge and Current Affairs. 30% is the qualifying cut-off. Main Exam: Paper I (General Hindi, qualifying) and Paper II (merit-deciding), both objective with 0.2 negative marking per wrong answer.
