The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has released the revised Primary Test syllabus for the post of Assistant Director (Boilers), Class-II, under the Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department. The Part 2 (Concerned Subject) syllabus was amended on 24 June 2026. The Primary Test has two parts: Part 1 (General Studies, 100 marks, in Gujarati) and Part 2 (Concerned Subject - Boilers). A total of 27 posts are advertised under advertisement number 40/2026-27.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The GPSC Assistant Director (Boilers), Class-II Primary Test has two parts.

Exam Pattern (Primary Test) - Part 1: General Studies. Medium: Gujarati. Total marks: 100. - Part 2: Concerned Subject (Boilers). This is the technical/subject paper for the post. The Part 2 syllabus was revised by the Commission on 24 June 2026. Candidates must download the detailed Part 2 syllabus from the official PDF on gpsc.gujarat.gov.in.

Part 1 - General Studies (100 marks, in Gujarati)

  2. Indus Valley Civilization, Vedic Period, Jainism and Buddhism.
  3. Contact with Central Asia and its consequences.
  4. Major dynasties of Ancient, Medieval and Modern India and Gujarat - rulers, administration, social, religious and economic conditions.
  5. Bhakti Movement and Sufism.
  6. Arrival of Europeans, British rule, the 1857 freedom struggle in India and Gujarat, 19th-century social and religious reform movements, India's independence movement, Indian revolutionaries in India and abroad.
  7. Contributions of national leaders in various fields.
  8. Post-independence India and Gujarat.
  9. Cultural heritage of India and Gujarat - art forms, literature, sculpture, architecture, music, dance.
  10. Saint tradition of India and Gujarat; fairs, festivals, food, dress; museums, libraries; Gujarati theatre; tribal life; Gujarati literature; pilgrimage and tourist places.

  11. Indian Polity, Constitution, Social Justice and International Relations

  12. Indian Constitution: evolution, features, important provisions and amendments, basic structure, federal matters.
  13. Constitutional, statutory, regulatory and quasi-judicial institutions.
  14. Local self-government institutions.
  15. Judiciary - structure and functions, judicial review, public interest litigation, landmark judgments.
  16. India's foreign policy and international relations; important organisations and agencies.
  17. Key Central and State government policies and programmes.

  18. Logical and Intellectual Ability

  19. Logical and analytical ability; decision making and problem solving; general mental ability; basic numeracy; data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency).

  20. Economy of India and Gujarat

  21. Basic economic concepts; planning in India; agriculture; industrial policy and public sector; infrastructure; population trends; public finance and taxation including GST; foreign trade; Gujarat's economy.

  22. Geography

  23. General, physical, social and economic geography of India, Gujarat and the world; current affairs in the context of geography.

  24. Science and Technology

  25. Nature and scope of science and technology; ICT; space and defence technology (ISRO, DRDO); energy needs and policy; nuclear policy; environmental science; biotechnology and nanotechnology; institutions in science and technology.

  26. General Knowledge and Current Events

  27. Important current events of regional, national and international importance.
