UPSC Scientist-B (India Meteorological Department) Recruitment 2026 — 46 Posts

A total of 46 Scientist-B (Group A) posts are notified across Atmospheric Sciences, General Meteorology, and Instrumentation. Reservation is category-wise, and PwBD reservation is horizontal within the total posts wherever applicable.

Education: A Master's degree in Atmospheric Sciences, Ocean Science, Hydrology, Physics, or Meteorology, OR a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in a relevant discipline, depending on the post applied for.

Age: Calculated as on 12-06-2026; it varies slightly by post and category. Standard age relaxations apply only to candidates applying against reserved posts.

All eligibility conditions must be met as on the closing date, 12-06-2026.

The fee is paid online only and is non-refundable. Applications without the prescribed fee, where applicable, are liable to be rejected.

2. Complete registration and the Common Application Form, then fill the post-specific module within the application window.
3. Upload a live photo, scanned photograph, signature, and proof documents.
4. Submit before 12-06-2026 (6:00 PM) and keep a printout. No hard copy needs to be posted to UPSC.

Selection is by interview, or by a recruitment test followed by an interview, as decided by UPSC. When applications are large in number, UPSC may shortlist candidates on the basis of higher qualifications or other suitable criteria. Selected candidates must be medically fit as prescribed by the Government.
