Vacancy Details

A total of 46 Scientist-B (Group A) posts are notified across Atmospheric Sciences, General Meteorology, and Instrumentation. Reservation is category-wise, and PwBD reservation is horizontal within the total posts wherever applicable.

Eligibility

Education: A Master's degree in Atmospheric Sciences, Ocean Science, Hydrology, Physics, or Meteorology, OR a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in a relevant discipline, depending on the post applied for.

Age: Calculated as on 12-06-2026; it varies slightly by post and category. Standard age relaxations apply only to candidates applying against reserved posts.

Selection Process

Selection is by interview, or by a recruitment test followed by an interview, as decided by UPSC. When applications are large in number, UPSC may shortlist candidates on the basis of higher qualifications or other suitable criteria. Selected candidates must be medically fit as prescribed by the Government.
