Selection Process

Selection is by recruitment by selection — through an interview, or a recruitment test followed by an interview, decided post by post. When applications are large, UPSC shortlists candidates using desirable or higher qualifications, higher experience, or a recruitment test. Minimum interview marks are 50 for UR, 45 for OBC, and 40 for SC/ST/PH (out of 100). Selected candidates must clear a medical examination. Appointment orders are issued by the concerned ministry.
